Farnan out of Golden Rose but into Everest

Friday 18 September 2020, 4:59pm

Farnan has secured the Everest slot of his part-owners Aquis and will bypass the Golden Rose to concentrate on the world's richest turf race.

Aquis announced the Tulloch Lodge three-year-old as their representative on Friday, less than a week after he was controversially beaten as favourite in The Run To The Rose.

Shane McGrath, managing director of Aquis, says they have faith the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained sprinter can bounce back from his first-up showing and be a worthy Everest contender.

"The ownership group shares the confidence of Gai and Adrian that Farnan, last season's Golden Slipper winner and champion two-year-old, will prove himself one of the fastest three-year-olds of this season and deserves his place in this year's Everest field," McGrath said.

"As such, Farnan will bypass the Golden Rose and be aimed at Australia's globally recognised premier sprint race."

Farnan is the second horse this week to be confirmed for an Everest slot after Yulong Investments locked in All Aged Stakes winner Tofane on Wednesday.

The pair join Nature Strip, Gytrash, Classique Legend and Rothfire in the 1200m race, held at Randwick on October 17, with six slots remaining vacant.
