Wet weather claims Bendigo meeting

Thursday 8 August 2013, 1:50pm

The wet weather in Victoria claimed another race meeting on Thursday and forced officials to transfer other fixtures over the weekend.

Thursday's Bendigo card was abandoned after 17mm of rain fell overnight, making the track unsafe.

Racing Victoria has also moved the provincial meeting on Saturday from Tatura to Murtoa and Sunday's meeting set down for Warrnambool has been transferred to Coleraine.

Flemington hosts the feature Saturday meeting which includes the Group Three Aurie's Star Handicap.

The Flemington track was rated in the slow range on Thursday after 12mm of overnight rain.

Last Sunday both Victorian meetings at Pakenham and Kilmore were called off as a result of the weather along with barrier trials at Cranbourne on Monday.

Cranbourne is set to host a meeting on Sunday with the track rated a heavy (10) and currently safe for racing, but the Geelong Synthetic track is on standby.
