Freeman-Key outed for winning ride

Saturday 20 October 2012, 6:30pm

A careless riding suspension has blighted a stellar day for Robyn Freeman-Key who has received a four meeting suspension for her stakes win aboard Famous Seamus.

Freeman-Key will be out of action until November 3 after being outed for her ride in Saturday's Listed Lightning Handicap (1100m) at Randwick.

Stewards said Freeman-Key's actions caused the Glyn Schofield-steered Hot Snitzel to be tightened up at the 500m mark.

Pleading guilty to the charge, Freeman-Key received a discounted suspension with stewards also taking into consideration her good record.

The jockey will miss next Saturday's Rosehill meeting but will be back in time to partner Famous Seamus if he runs in two weeks.

The suspension marred what was a momentous day for the jockey - the win aboard Famous Seamus being her first stakes success.

It was also a record-breaker for the horse who set a course record 1:01.96 for the 1100 metres, the second short-course record of the day on the firm track.

Earlier Queensland three-year-old Better Than Ready set a new mark for 1200 metres of 1:08.10 in the Brian Crowley Stakes.
