Racing Qld contributes to bushfire appeal

Wednesday 8 January 2020, 4:02pm

Racing Queensland has joined other thoroughbred industry bodies in pledging $15,000 to the bushfire appeal.

At the opening of the Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast, chief executive Brendan Parnell said Racing Queensland was keen to support other industry participants including Thoroughbred Breeders Australia who were helping with the fire appeal.

TBA has announced vendors at the Magic Millions Sale would donate $500 for every horse sold, which is expected to raise about $300,000.

The Magic Millions and its naming rights sponsor, The Star Gold Coast, also announced donations to bush fire relief.

Further fundraising will continue during the Magic Millions carnival with more than 20,000 people expected to attend Saturday's raceday.
