In Her Time on track for southern raid

Sunday 27 October 2019, 12:58pm

In Her Time has come through her Everest run in great order and remains on track for a Group One sprint assignment in Melbourne.

Trainer Kris Lees said it was hard to fault the mare's effort in the $14 million dollar race in which she finished ninth, just over four lengths from winner Yes Yes Yes.

"She got a bit of buffeting and was pushed off the track at a vital stage," Lees said.

"She has bounced out of it quite well.

"It was a hot race and they ran sensational times. She ran 1:08 herself so you can't be too disappointed in her."

The Everest was In Her Time's first run of the spring and she is already a dual Group One winner of The Galaxy in Sydney and Lightning Stakes at Flemington.

Lees is following a similar path to last spring when In Her Time finished seventh in the Everest and was a close second to Santa Ana Lane in the VRC Sprint down the Flemington straight.

He confirmed the mare would return to Melbourne for another shot at the 1200m-straight sprint at Flemington on Saturday week.

Her stablemate Graff remains in work and will be set for an assignment closer to home.

"Graff will trial next Wednesday and he will be next seen in the Hunter at Newcastle," Lees said.

The $1 million The Hunter (1300m) is a new race which will be held at the stand-alone Saturday meeting at Graff's home track of Newcastle on November 16.
