Big Brown Brings Up 10

BIG Brown's tally of individual 2YO winners from his first crop has reached double figures after flying filly Get Me A Cocktail bolted in to win in the USA overnight.

The Larry Rivelli-trained local was three-deep on a hot speed before burning off her rivals to set up a commanding into the bend.Big BrownBig Brown

She kicked strongly in the stretch to race away and win by a widening 4-lens margin in the 1200m maiden. The filly is the first foal out of the unraced mare Impressive Attire. Impressive Attire is a half sister to three winners. Her dam is grade I winner Sharp Cat, who earned $2,032,575.

Get Me A Cocktail becomes the tenth individual 2YO winner sired by Big Brown in his first year led by the Sunny's Halo Stakes winner and Breeders' Cup Juvenile hopeful Brown Almighty.

"Big Brown is doing a tremendous job over there in the States,'' says Vinery Stud's Adam White.

"Brown Almighty is clearly a headline horse for him but there are others including Darwin.'' Darwin is the colt whom Coolmore (Demi O'Byrne) paid US$1.3 million for at the Horses in Training Sale in Florida back in February. He looked the part winning his debut at Belmont Park in New York recently for Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner and Vinery resident Pluck's former trainer Todd Pletcher.

"Those vendors who are taking a Big Brown to the yearling sales in 2013 in Australia are going to be able to trade off his momentum in the USA not only in the sale ring but on the racetrack,'' White said.

"Unfortunately due to a slight mishap, he didn't shuttle this season but we can't wait for him to return to Scone in 2013 by which time his oldest US progeny will be three-year-olds and we know what an unbelievable horse Big Brown was himself at three. "There is just so much to look forward to.''
