New stewards appointed to QRIC

The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission has boosted its depleted stewards ranks with some key appointments.

The senior stewards ranks in Queensland have been tested in recent months with Ian Brown resigning, Allan Reardon retiring, a steward off ill and another senior steward on office duties.

In a media release commissioner Ross Barnett said Dayle Brown had been appointed in the short-term to assist stewards and as a racing advisor during the winter carnival.

"In addition, Dayle will provide support to chief stipendiary steward Peter Chadwick throughout the carnival," Barnett said.

"Dayle has extensive experience in the racing industry and in professional sport, including as a senior stipendiary steward.

"Dayle will bring to Queensland his extensive thoroughbred racing experience as the lead advocate for Racing Victoria, before the Victorian Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board Racing Appeals Tribunal and Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

"In addition to being a former executive general manager of integrity services at Racing Victoria his significant racing experience spans more than 20 years, including thoroughbred, greyhound and harness racing."

A new senior steward has been appointed to Rockhampton.

Neville Laskey has most recently been working Singapore but also has vast experience in Victoria.
