Sandown winner Asgard Massif on the market

Wednesday 8 May 2019, 2:54pm

Asgard Massif may cost any potential new owner a few extra dollars after an impressive all-the-way win at Sandown.

Trainer John Sadler revealed Asgard Massif is on the market as Singapore-based surgeon Dr Tan Kai Chah reduces his worldwide thoroughbred numbers.

Asgard Massif is a son of Jolie's Shinju who won the Singapore Triple Crown, including the Singapore Derby, for Dr Tan in 2009 before travelling to Australia for the Cox Plate.

After finishing third in the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes at Moonee Valley in September, Jolie's Shinju's form tapered off forcing her to miss the Cox Plate.

Asgard Massif carried the Melbourne Racing Club's emergency set of colours on Wednesday when successful in the Ladbrokes Back Yourself Handicap.

"Unfortunately Dr Tan didn't see his colours go around this time as they were left at Bendigo on Sunday," Sadler said.

"He's a very good client of the stable and unfortunately he wants to sell this bloke just when he's coming right.

"If someone wants a nice horse, he's really starting to mature and develop into something.

"He's on the market and I'd love to keep hold of him as he's a lovely horse."

Asgard Massif is a younger brother to Blue Diamond placegetter Formality.

Sadler said his experience with sons and daughters of Fastnet Rock had been mixed.

"The geldings have taken a bit of time whereas the fillies have been runners early," he said.
