Sires' Produce still target for Probabeel

Monday 18 March 2019, 2:12pm

New Zealand two-year-old Probabeel remains on target for the Group One ATC Sires' Produce Stakes after her creditable sixth in the Magic Night Stakes.

The Jamie Richards-trained filly was uncomfortable on the heavy track in the Group Three race, a traditional Golden Slipper lead-up.

Richards said Probabeel would benefit from the run, her first since she won the Karaka Million in January.

"The track at Rosehill was very deep and testing and she didn't handle it all that well," Richards told NZ Racing Desk.

"She dipped and dived a fair bit and had to make a long, sustained run to get near them, which is never easy at that track.

"I thought she kept coming nicely and I know she will be better for the run.

"I guess when you see a six in her form-line it doesn't look that great, but given the circumstances, I think it was a satisfactory effort.

"She has come through the run nicely, so it is all go for the Sires' Produce in three weeks."

Probabeel is in a group on the third line of betting at $11 for the Sires' with Castelvecchio, Cosmic Force and Yes Yes Yes equal favourites at $6 ahead of Coxmic Force at $8.
