Runaway winner Mr Marbellouz after gold

Saturday 2 March 2019, 6:20pm

The lure of QTIS bonus money will see Mr Marbellouz head to the Listed Goldmarket Handicap after a runaway win at Doomben.

Mr Marbellouz ($1.50) went straight to the lead and raced away to beat Courtza King ($13) by 3-1/4 lengths in Saturday's Weddings At Tattersall's Open (1200m).

It was his third run back from an injury-enforced holiday and took his record to seven wins from 12 starts.

Trainer Kevin Kemp's main aim with Mr Marbellouz is the Listed Weetwood Handicap in Toowoomba on April 6.

"He will need another run before the Weetwood and it might as well be in the Goldmarket (at the Gold Coast on March 16) which is also Listed and carries double QTIS bonus money, taking first prizemoney to $145,000 for eligible horses," Kemp said.

"It's great to see him back in form and I am looking forward to the next few weeks."
