Darren Weir enters horses for Caulfield

Monday 4 February 2019, 12:47pm

Darren Weir has entered horses for the C F Orr Stakes meeting at Caulfield including Fifty Stars and Whispering Brook in the feature race,

Weir is due to front Racing Victoria stewards on Monday afternoon to fight for his licence at a show cause hearing after being charged with offences relating to electronic devices known as jiggers found at his stables.

The jiggers were found last Wednesday during raids conducted on Weir's bases at Ballarat and Warrnambool in a joint operation between RV stewards and officers from Victoria Police's sport integrity unit.

Weir and his assistant, licensed trainer Jarrod McLean, have been charged over the jiggers and with failing to answer stewards' questions.

If Monday's show cause hearing goes against Weir, the horses entered for Saturday will have to be transferred in order to run.

Many horses have already left Weir including C F Orr entries Brave Smash who is now with Kris Lees and Land Of Plenty who will run for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.

The C F Orr Stakes (1400m) is the first Australian Group One race of the year.
