Close relation to Black Caviar to debut

Tuesday 16 October 2012, 4:20pm

A filly from the same family as Black Caviar will create plenty of interest in the Debutants Stakes at Caulfield on Wednesday.

Scandiva makes her debut in the 1000m event on Thousand Guineas Day and her trainer Anthony Cummings says the youngster has her share of natural talent.

The two-year-old is a daughter of Fastnet Rock out of the mare Scandinavia.

Another daughter of Scandinavia is Helsinge, who has produced both champion sprinter Black Caviar and last Saturday's Group One Caulfield Guineas hero All Too Hard.

"She had a jumpout last week and went very well," Cummings said.

"She won her heat and would have learned a lot from that, as she would have needed to, because she still made a couple of mistakes.

"She's a nice filly and has got a fantastic pedigree. She's showing all the signs that she is going to be able to live up to her pedigree."
