Suspended trainer faces two more charges

Monday 24 September 2018, 5:14pm

Suspended trainer Richard Laming has been hit with two charges after one of his horses returned a positive pre-race sample to a corticosteroid.

Earlier this month Laming was suspended for two months on a race-day treatment charge after Patient was withdrawn from a race at Sandown in February.

His latest charges come after Sly Romance was tested before running in the Andrew Ramsden Stakes at Flemington on May 19.

The swab returned a positive to Triamcinolone Acetonide, a prohibited substance.

Laming was on Monday charged with presenting Sly Romance to race with a prohibited substance in its system.

He was also charged with failure to record in his treatment diary the treatment and medication administered to Sly Romance on April 13.

Laming will have his charges heard by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board at a date to be fixed.
