Magic Millions Guineas for Invigorating

Saturday 8 September 2018, 2:04pm

Giant-killing filly Invigorating marked herself as a possible Magic Millions Guineas horse with her storming win at Doomben on Saturday.

Invigorating won her first start at Ipswich 10 days ago when she came from well back to beat an odds-on favourite from the David Vandyke stable in Frangipani Moon.

The UMS School Wear Handicap (1200m) was billed as an easy race for another of Vandyke's horses in Asharani ($1.75).

But it didn't work out that way with Invigorating ($13) charging home late to beat Hallside Fandango ($14) by a neck with a nose to Quanyin ($21) in third place.

Asharani, who was sore after the race, finished with the tail enders and her trip to Melbourne for the Group One Thousand Guineas is now up in the air.

Trainer Steve O'Dea's foreman Matt Hoysted said Invigorating would only get better.

"She has been immature and we really feel whatever she does this campaign she will be much better next time with experience," he said.

"Invigorating is a Magic Millions horse so we would obviously be keen to she if she could measure up to that carnival."
