Sydney spring carnival rebranded Everest

Tuesday 31 July 2018, 2:08pm

The Sydney spring carnival has been rebranded to Everest Carnival to highlight the importance of the world's richest race on turf.

The Australian Turf Club has announced the renaming of the six-week carnival which begins on September 8 and culminates in the $13 million Everest on October 13.

The ATC says the new identity reflects the success of the inaugural running of The Everest in 2017 and the club's commitment to growing the race's significance on the Australian sporting calendar.

"The impact of The Everest in its first year across Sydney and the global racing community was astonishing and this rebrand of our spring racing calendar to ''Everest Carnival'' will only further highlight the world-class racing and fantastic on-course experiences available at Rosehill Gardens and Royal Randwick over spring," ATC head of marketing, Chris Bevan said.

The meeting at Rosehill on September 8 features the Run To The Rose, the lead-up to the Group One Golden Rose at the track two weeks later.

The Randwick carnival days are September 15 featuring the George Main Stakes, September 29 (Epsom), October 6 (Spring Champion) and The Everest day.
