Your Song returns with runaway BTC Cup win

Saturday 11 May 2013, 3:56pm

Sydney three-year-old Your Song gave his older rivals a true galloping lesson with a commanding Group One BTC Cup win at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Having his first start since mixing it with the best of his age during the Sydney spring carnival, Your Song cleared away on a rain-affected track.

Your Song, trained by Anthony Cummings, raced on the speed and moved into a clear second at the turn for jockey Peter Robl as he set out after the leader Rain Affair.

He assumed control of the race in a matter of strides, leaving Rain Affair to settle for another Group One second placing.

Better Than Ready threaded his way through field from last to take the minor placing.

A slow start contributed to the defeat of the favourite Buffering who had to be used up to occupy a forward but wide position in the race.

The effort told and Buffering had to settle for fourth placing.
