Browne ban puts Impending ride in jeopardy

Saturday 26 May 2018, 6:00pm

Damian Browne will appeal against a suspension in a bid to retain the Stradbroke Handicap ride aboard Impending.

Browne's elation after winning the Group One Kingsford Smith Cup aboard Impending was soured when he was hit with a careless-riding suspension from a ride earlier in the day.

Stewards issued Browne with a 10 days suspension for causing interference to Heavenly Thought in the Grand Prix Stakes when he rode Time Lord.

His suspension starts after next Saturday's Sunshine Coast meeting and ends at midnight on June 12.

The Stradbroke is run on June 9 and Browne said he would lodge an appeal which should enable him to gain a stay of proceedings to enable him to keep the ride on Impending.
