Jeff Lloyd brings up 100 Qld metro wins

Saturday 26 May 2018, 11:41am

Premier jockey Jeff Lloyd brought up 100 Queensland metropolitan winners with a patient ride on Tyzone at Doomben on Saturday.

Lloyd didn't panic when Tyzone ($4.20) got pushed back to near the tail of the field before coming with a well-timed run to beat Sword of Justice ($9) a short-head in the Wilpak Wholesale Meats Handicap (1200m).

Echo Effect ($16) was a neck back in third place.

It was the second season in a row Lloyd has ridden 100 or more winners in the metropolitan premiership after landing a record 137 last season.

Lloyd has indicated he will retire this year but has not set a definite date.
