Redkirk Warrior in good form at Flemington

Saturday 19 May 2018, 12:39pm

Redkirk Warrior has been given the opportunity to gallop between races at Flemington in preparation for his trip to Royal Ascot.

The Lindsay Park trained sprinter is tentatively booked to fly to the UK on June 6 after he has another hit-out at Werribee on May 28.

Redkirk Warrior has been nominated for the King's Stand Stakes (1000m) on the opening day of the Royal Ascot meeting, June 19 and the Diamond Jubilee (1200m) on the final day, June 23.

Lindsay Park is favouring the Diamond Jubilee but that could change if the forecast is for wet weather.

"His wet track form isn't as good as his dry track form so we're keeping all options open but the intention is to run on the Saturday," co-trainer Tom Dabernig said.

Redkirk Warrior, who won the Lightning Stakes and the Newmarket Handicap over the straight course at Flemington during the autumn, worked over 1000m, quickening up over the last 600m.

Dabernig said he looked exceptionally sharp over the final 200m.

"I think the race day atmosphere will bring him on," Dabernig said.
