Pretty In Pink lands Scone Listed race win

Saturday 12 May 2018, 2:07pm

Pretty In Pink has lived up to her reputation at her second start with a valuable stakes win at Scone for her owners Segenhoe, sponsors of the Listed Woodlands Stakes.

Trained by John O'Shea, Pretty In Pink ($2.80 fav) backed up her debut win over 1000m at Gosford on April 25 with a decisive two-length victory over Invictus Salute ($6.50) in Saturday's 1100m-race for two-year-olds.

O'Shea, who returned to public training last year after a stint with Godolphin, said he believed the filly had a big future but had done enough for now.

"She looks to be special," O'Shea said.

"She's got the will to be a racehorse.

"It's big thanks to Kevin Maloney at Segenhoe who gave me horses when I returned to public training and it's nice to reward them.

"She'll go to the paddock now. She's a nice filly with a bright future and we'll look after her now."

She was ridden at Scone by Brenton Avdulla but O'Shea said James McDonald had put in the work on the filly in the past few weeks.

McDonald has been licensed to ride trackwork ahead of his return to race riding next week after serving 18 months for a betting-related offence.

He was the No.1 jockey at Godolphin Australia at the time of his suspension and O'Shea has said publicly he will support him on his return.
