Trainer Len Xuereb rubbed out by RAD Board

Thursday 3 May 2018, 5:29pm

Trainer Len Xuereb has been disqualified and fined by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board over a high cobalt reading in one of his horses.

Xuereb pleaded guilty to an administration charge after Elegantly Wasted returned a reading in excess of 200 micrograms in urine following a race at Sale in 2015 and was disqualified for six months.

Moe-based Xuereb was also fined $600 for having substances in his stable that were not registered or labelled or prescribed, dispensed or obtained in compliance with the state or commonwealth legislation.

He was fined a further $400 for failing to record all treatments of Elegantly Wasted in the period leading up to the Sale race on July 9, 2015.

His disqualification begins on May 11.
