Jason Collett on the mend after tumble

Thursday 8 February 2018, 12:49pm

Jason Collett hopes to be back in the saddle at Warwick Farm after avoiding serious injury in a fall from newcomer Prahaar at Randwick.

Collett will sit out the Friday night meeting at Canterbury but expects to be cleared to resume riding on Saturday at Warwick Farm.

He suffered neck pain and bruising when the David Pfieffer-trained Prahaar veered left when in a winning position in Wednesday's TAB.com.au Plate (1100m).

Prahaar's sudden movement less than 10 metres from the winning post caused Collett to lose his balance and land heavily.

"I'm a bit sore, but lucky to be walking away really," Collett told Sky Sports Radio.

"The neck is a bit tight and I landed on my right side, that's quite sore too.

"I've got away quite lightly, I should be back on Saturday."

Collett, who will see his osteopath on Friday, believed Prahaar was headed for victory before the three-year-old tried to exit the track through a gate.

"I'd put a half-length on them and thought I was home. Initially I thought she saw the winning post, but she's gone for the gates," he said.

Prahaar has been ordered back to the trials by Racing NSW stewards and will have to perform to their satisfaction before being cleared to race again.

Collett has seven rides at Warwick Farm, including a trio for Bjorn Baker.

He is booked for two-year-old debutante Ballistica in the Listed Inglis Classic (1200m), Goodfella in the Group Three Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) and Egyptian Symbol in the Breeders' Classic (1200m).
