Champion jockey Larry Cassidy's great form at the Sunshine Coast has swayed trainer Desleigh Forster to book him for veteran Someday on Saturday.

Someday was ridden by Melbourne's Michael Walker when he won the $300,000 Bernborough Handicap at his most recent start on December 30.

Walker is unavailable and Forster had hoped to book Michael Cahill to ride Someday but he is committed to Torgersen.

Forster has gone with Cassidy who she hopes can help overcome a wide barrier in Saturday's Sunshine Coast Cup.

"Larry is a very experienced jockey and has been riding very well everywhere and especially at the Sunshine Coast," she said.

Cassidy, a former Sydney and Brisbane premiership winner, is well on the way to riding 3000 career winners.

He has ridden three winners at the Sunshine Coast in the past fortnight.

Cassidy's most famous winning ride at the Sunshine Coast was in the 2015 Guineas aboard Winx, the first of a winning streak that stands at 22.

The bigger Sunshine Coast track and a sharp turn around in weights is expected to help unlucky stayer Outraged when he steps up to 2400m for the first time on Saturday.

The 2016 Townsville Cup winner Outraged won an open handicap at The Gold Coast in October.

The form out of the race was strong because runner up in the race, Chris Waller's Vassal, returned to Sydney to win twice, including the Christmas Cup.

However, Outraged has had six runs since and been a regular in the unlucky runner column and stewards reports.

He has not finished worse than fifth in those runs but his bad luck culminated with a third in the $1million Magic Millions Cup (2200m).

Schweida was naturally disappointed although the $90,000 third prize lifted Outraged's earnings past $500,000.

"Just about everyone said he should have won. He got pushed deep early and stayed there. In the end he has finished third beaten about a neck all up," Schweida said.

Schweida said Outraged had won at the Sunshine Coast and the 2400m on Saturday would suit him.

"It is his first go at 2400m but there is no reason he won't run the trip right out," Schweida said.
