Over $114,000 raised for Jockeys Trust

Tuesday 23 January 2018, 7:44am

The sixth annual National Jockeys Trust T20 cricket match has raised over $114,000 for the charitable organisation.

Monday's match between the Jockeys team and the Racing All Stars side was played at Caulfield Park with the Jockeys getting home in a super over.

The now annual event was the brainchild of Group One-winning jockey Jason Benbow who captained the Jockeys team.

The event is one of the core fundraising activities for the NJT which provides support for riders and their families who are experiencing hardship.

Part of the fundraising included each player having a sponsor for the cricket match.

On the day the Victorian Racing Club chair Amanda Elliott gave a cheque for just over $55,000 on behalf of the club with the contribution coming from initiatives including $11,300 from Winx merchandise and Winx's winning saddlecloth auction from the Turnbull Stakes day last spring.
