Slydini to win on dry track

Thursday 18 January 2018, 2:26pm

The Bryan and Daniel Guy training partnership is confident Slydini can finally put to rest a theory he is just a wet-track horse when he runs at Doomben.

There have been few more consistent horses racing than Slydini who has had an Ipswich win, four seconds and two thirds at his past seven starts this campaign.

He has picked up more than $50,000 prize money without winning a city race.

Originally trained by Joe Pride in Sydney, Slydini does have a good wet track record having won three races and being placed seven times on rain-affected ground.

However, Daniel Guy said Slydini was proving an honest performer on all ground.

"At his past two starts Slydini has run second to the in-form Aqua Vite on very firm going. He has only been on a wet track once this campaign and was an unlucky second," Guy said.

Syldini is coming back from a last-start second at 1800m at the Gold Coast to 1600m at Doomben on Saturday.

"He has only missed a place once in six goes at 1600 metres and has been placed three of his four runs at the Doomben mile," Guy said.

"We wouldn't be upset by a bit of rain but a dry track won't hurt us."

Brisbane has again been hot all week and the Doomben surface is likely to be firm on Saturday.
