Two trial choices for Fullazaboot

Monday 1 January 2018, 1:45pm

Weather permitting, Magic Millions Classic aspirant Fullazaboot is set to trial at the Sunshine Coast after trainer Stuart Kendrick elected to miss a run at Doomben.

Kendrick thought long and hard before scratching Fullazaboot from the Group Three B J McLachlan Stakes on Saturday.

Fullazaboot has earned $51,000 from a win and second and in an average year would be well and truly in the field for the Magic Millions Classic on January 13.

But there are several chances for horses to jump him in prize money at meetings in the next week.

"At the moment he remains in the field for the Millions and I think he should make the field. But it was a calculated risk," Kendrick said.

"But luckily we have the choice of two lots of trials at the Sunshine Coast on Tuesday and Deagon on Thursday. We will just have to watch the weather."

Kendrick has been one of the success stories of Queensland racing since moving to the Sunshine Coast from Mackay five years ago.

He has since trained about 400 winners and is a regular in the top 10 in Brisbane trainers.

Kendrick is noted for his eye for a horse and paid $90,000 for Fullazaboot.

"He is good looking. He has strong bloodlines. His half brother D'Argento has won a couple of races in good fashion," he said.

Fullazaboot is by Group One winner Sepoy out of the Listed race winner Fulazz who won the Debutante Stakes at her first start for Lee Freedman.

His family also traces to some smart horses including Hoss Amour who is the dam of a yearling who went for $2.4 million this season at the Easter sale.
