Just Orm throws to a win

Saturday 30 December 2017, 1:43pm

Trainer Tony Gollan's confidence that Just Orm would run well at Doomben was boosted when the gelding threw his track work rider on the morning of the race.

Gollan picked up where he left off at the previous Doomben where he had four winners when Just Orm ($5.50) score by 3/4 length to Boomwa ($15) iun the Magic Millions Benchmark 75.(1100m).

"I walked the track during the week after the rain this week and was happy it would eventually get back to close to good," Gollan said.

"That boosted my confidence with Just Orm and then he tossed his track work rider and I knew he was ready to go."

Gollan said distances around 1100m were the best for Just Orm who was beaten at 1200m at his previous start.

"They ran the race just like he needed it as he was able to sit just ff the pace," Gollan said.

Just Orm cost $45,000 as a yearling at March Magic Millions sales but is unlikely to contest any races at the big Magic Millions day on January 13.

Winning jockey Jim Byrne said the gelding had a perfect run and has sprinted quickly when asked.
