Snowden duo find form in Warwick Farm wins

Saturday 23 December 2017, 5:21pm

Stablemates Wild 'N' Famous and Nancy have snapped losing streaks at Warwick Farm to surprise their trainer Peter Snowden.

Wild 'N' Famous started the against-the-odds double when he flashed home out wide late to gate crash a three-way battle for the lead in the Hyland Boxing Day Sprint (1200m).

The six-year-old gelding swooped to pip Bratislava ($3.90) by a head while Il Mio Destino ($11) was a short half-head third.

It was the $16 chance's first win since February last year at Doomben, and Nancy ended an 11-start losing streak by claiming the December Handicap (1600m).

The six-year-old mare, who had been on the cusp of retirement, also surged late to win for the first time since the Group Three Godolphin Crown (1300m) at Hawkesbury in April, 2016.

Snowden, who trains with his son Paul, admitted running eighth at Randwick last weekend could have marked the end of Nancy's career.

"She's been out of form, to the point she's been really frustrating but I thought just give her one more run," Snowden said.

"She's been run off her feet over 1200 (metres), she's an older mare now and is probably looking for a bit more ground."

Nancy ($12) also owed her third win at Warwick Farm, and fifth overall, to a smart ride from apprentice Andrew Adkins, who set her up to unleash at the 100m and hold off fast-finishing $4.40 favourite Morton's Fork by a half neck.
