The Australian Turf Club and Australian Bloodstock have banded together to donate more than $33,000 to the Mark Hughes Foundation for brain cancer research.

The $33,060 cheque was presented to the charity at Rosehill Gardens racecourse on Saturday by ATF chairman Laurie Macri.

Mark Hughes accepted the donation in between two races named in honour of the cause - the Beanie for Brain Cancer Handicap and Mark Hughes Foundation Handicap - won by Invinzabeel and Test The World respectively.

The donation was raised from five per cent of net prize money earned by the Australian Bloodstock-owned Brave Smash, who represented the ATC when he came third in the $10 million Everest on October 14.

The Mark Hughes Foundation was formed by Mark and Kirralee Hughes after Mark, a former Newcastle rugby league player, was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2013.
