Trainer Chris Munce is closely watching the weather before committing much-travelled Snoopy to his Brisbane debut at Doomben.

The track was saturated by 65mm of rain on Wednesday but officials hope the track can get back to soft by Saturday.

Snoopy is expected to have his first start for Munce in the Group Three George Moore Stakes (1200m) at Doomben.

"Snoopy has wet weather form but I don't want to start him first up on a bog track. I will have to watch the weather but at this stage he is starting," Munce said.

The gelding won six races in Victoria and NSW when trained by the Hawkes training partnership.

But his best run was second to Clearly Innocent in the Listed Luskin Star Stakes at Scone in May.

After that race Clearly Innocent went on to win the Group One Kingsford Smith Stakes at Eagle Farm.

After Snoopy was well beaten in Rosehill in June, his owners Whitby Bloodstock and Werrett Bloodstock decided his future was in Queensland.

"I have had a bit of success for them and it was good to get a more than handy horse from them. If you look at his form it has been against some top-sheIf opposition," Munce said.

He has been happy with Snoopy since he came back into work two months ago.

"He has only had 20 starts and has a good winning strike rate," Munce said.

"Snoopy has won three times first-up and been second another time. It is a tough race on Saturday but he has to start somewhere."

Snoopy will follow a traditional path through the summer after the George Moore.

"All going well he can run in the Lough Neagh Stakes and Buffering Quality before the Millions Cup," Munce said.

"He ran 11th in the Magic Millions Cup last year but only got beaten two lengths."

Munce will have two strong chances in the Listed Winning Rupert Plate (1200m) with three-year-olds, Dazzling Red and Saint Patricks Day.

"Dazzling Red has won three in a row and deserves a chance in a better race," he said.

"Saint Patricks Day has taken a while to get back to his best but his second last start on a wet track was very good."
