O'Dea filly a sensation in the wet

Saturday 18 November 2017, 2:06pm

Well bred filly Singular Sensation added another strength to her Magic Millions arsenal when she ploughed through the mud for an easy win at Doomben on Saturday.

Singular Sensation ($2.40) made it two wins from two starts when she went straight to the lead and costed away to beat Miss Sara ($17) by three lengths in the Watpac Two Year Old (1050m).

Animal Spirits ($8) fought on well to be 2 1/2 lengths back to be third.

Trainer Steve O'Dea said Singular Sensation would now have an ease up before coming back with the $2 million Magic Millions Class (1200m) on January 13.

"She should have enough prize money to get into the Millions Classic so the pressure is off us a bit. She can go out to Aquis Farm for a week on the water walker and then her next start will the Listed Calaway Gal Stakes in a month's time," O'Dea said.

"Singular Sensation won her first start on a dry track and now she has won on a bog. The fact she can handle wet and dry tracks is a big plus for the Millions."

O'Dea is the number one trainer for Aquis and the Fung family who syndicated the filly but she does not racein their colours.

"She is raced by Mrs Fung and some friends and Singular Sensation is eligible for the $500,000 women's bonus at the Millions."

Winning jockey Brad Stewart said Singular Sensation had cruised to the lead and was always travelling like winner.

Apprentice Zoe White said Miss Sara had fought on well and would be suited by further.

Paul Hammersely who rode Animal Spirits said the filly was also looking for at least 1200m.
