Enable Europe's best of the year

Enable has been named Europe's Horse of the Year at the Cartier Racing Awards ceremony in London.

The outstanding three-year-old filly, trained by John Gosden, had a stunning year which reached its zenith with victory in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. The other nominees were Cracksman, Ribchester and Ulysses.

Enable also claimed top honours in the Three-Year-Old Filly Award while the Gosden-trained Cracksman was crowned Three-Year-Old Colt of the year following his impressive seven-length success in the Champion Stakes at Ascot.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained US Navy Flag was the Two-Year-Old Colt and Harry Angel from the Clive Cox stable was the top sprinter.

The O'Brien-trained Happily picked up the award for Two-Year-Old Filly and stablemate, the Lloyd Williams-owned Order Of St George was the leading stayer.

Eclipse and Juddmonte International winner Ulysses beat Ribchester, Highland Reel and Talismanic to be champion older horse while his trainer Sir Michael Stoute received the Award of Merit.
