Dale Evans suspended for two months

Wednesday 25 October 2017, 10:24am

Queensland jockey Dale Evans has been suspended for two months on a handling charge arising from a ride at Rockhampton.

Stewards charged Evans with failing to give Dam Wonderful the best possible chance to win or run a place in a 1050m-benchmark race on September 21.

Dam Wonderful finished fifth beaten just over three lengths.

Stewards found Evans restrained Dam Wonderful just after the start with no reasonable reason.

They also found he did not place the horse under pressure in the early stages of the race and from the 600m to the 400m he did not pressure the horse or take reasonable runs.

Evans was suspended for two calendar months to take effect from midnight Sunday to December, 29.
