Waller ups Queensland presence

Thursday 19 October 2017, 2:53pm

Champion Sydney trainer Chris Waller will take his presence in Queensland up a notch with his biggest yet representation from his Gold Coast satellite stable at the Doomben meeting.

Waller set up the Gold Coast stable in August and it is being run by experienced kiwi horseman Paul Shailer.

The Gold Coast stable has had eight winners since starting including five in the metropolitan area.

On Saturday at Doomben, Waller will be represented by Vassal, My Giuliano and The Rumour File in the Open Handicap, Colosimo and Bella Success in the Three-Year-Old Handicap and Torgersen in the Class 6 Plate.

Shailer said the stable was coming together after renovation work.

"I know Chris is keen to chase races in the Queensland summer carnival and Magic Millions carnival," Shailer said.

"It has also taken a while to work out the difference in training up here to Sydney.

"The horses have done well and have gained in confidence. Torgersen who won his first race in two years recently is an example."
