Seville to miss spring with virus

Thursday 11 October 2012, 6:08pm

Glencadam Gold has shortened even further to win the Caulfield Cup following Seville's withdrawal from the carnival due to a virus.

Seville had been promoted to TAB's $8.50 third favourite following his second to stablemate Green Moon in the Turnbull Stakes.

But just days later, co-owner Nick Williams reported he would not take any further part in the spring carnival.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Glencadam Gold, winner of the Metropolitan, firmed from $4.20 to $3.60 with December Draw the only other runner under double figures at $6.

Seville was the second spring casualty on Thursday with Manighar injuring a knee which requires surgery.
