In-form Currie stable chases city success

Thursday 12 October 2017, 12:44pm

Toowoomba trainer Ben Currie is hoping his dominance of the provincial circuit can translate to more metropolitan success at Doomben.

Currie has been in great form winning a TAB meeting record of six races on his home track last Saturday.

He missed Wednesday's Ipswich meeting to attend the Gold Coast breeze-up sales but brought his total of winners for the week to seven when Break Time won.

Currie has accepted with Girl In A Million, Mishani Wrangler, Now You See, Mustarrid and With A Promise at Doomben on Saturday.

He was the state's leading trainer with 107 winners last season and was 13th in the metropolitan premiership with 15-1/2 winners from 91 runners.

Currie, 25, has trained just more 400 winners with 52 of those on metropolitan tracks.

"We would obviously like to have more success in town and that is our aim this season," Currie said.
