Straight six for Too Good To Refuse

Monday 9 October 2017, 3:52pm

Brisbane sprinter Too Good To Refuse will be on trial for a trip to Melbourne when he resumes at Doomben.

Too Good To Refuse hasn't run since finishing 11th in the Glasshouse Quality at Caloundra in July and is now back with trainer Desleigh Forster at Eagle Farm after a spell.

After barrier trials at Doomben were washed out last Tuesday, he had a solid gallop 24 hours later.

"Robbie Fradd drove up from the Gold Coast to work him on Wednesday morning and said he was spot-on," Forster said.

"He really liked the way Too Good To Refuse attacked the line."

Fradd has already confirmed he will ride Too Good To Refuse this campaign.

Too Good To Refuse is one of 16 entries for Saturday's 1200m-Open Handicap with the nominations headed by Hopfgarten who is also in the mix for the Sydney Stakes at Randwick.

After Saturday, Forster will decide whether to take Too Good To Refuse to Melbourne.

"I have always wanted to try him down the straight six (furlongs) at Flemington. It would suit him with plenty of pace and being able to wind up for a final shot at them," Forster said.

"There aren't many horses in Australia who have the same finishing burst as Too Good To Refuse."

"I don't know about a Group One down the straight six but there are few other races to suit him."

Too Good To Refuse has won $483,000 prize money which should get him into most races.

Forster is also looking forward to the racetrack debut of Too Good To Refuse's half-brother Too Good To Resist.

"He is a way off racing yet but he looks a likely comer," she said.
