Ben Currie trains record six at Toowoomba

Sunday 8 October 2017, 2:25pm

Ben Currie has set a Queensland record by training six winners and a second on the seven-event TAB Toowoomba card.

Currie's winners on Saturday evening were Island Sunset, Mishani Rainman, Amanat, Hot Talk, Apoloboom, and High Africane and his second was with Mishani La Scala.

It was the second time Currie had trained six winners in a day after he had five at Toowoomba and one at Doomben in May.

Toowoomba-based Currie, who won the 2016/17 state premiership with 103 winners, is well on the way to the century again with 32 this season.

Bruce McLachlan, Alan Bailey, Gillian Heinrich, Toby Edmonds and Currie held the previous record of five winners at the one TAB meeting.

Cocky Easton holds the Queensland record with seven winners at Cunnamulla in 1961 at a non-TAB meeting.
