He's Our Rokkii to run in Underwood Stakes

Wednesday 27 September 2017, 2:53pm

Lindsay Park has decided to keep He's Our Rokkii on home soil in Melbourne for a Group One race instead of travelling to Sydney.

The five-year-old is set to run in Sunday's weight-for-age Underwood Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield instead of contesting the Group One Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick a day earlier.

Senior Lindsay Park trainer David Hayes said the decision was based on the gelding heading towards next month's Caulfield Cup.

He's Our Rokkii's has had two runs this campaign, finishing a first-up fourth in the P B Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield last month before running sixth to Bonneval in the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes at Moonee Valley on September 9.

"I play better at Caulfield," Hayes said.

"He's got a good barrier and I can forgive him for one bad run and it also keeps him on the Caulfield Cup path.

"He's in the (Cup) field so it was an easy decision to make."

He's Our Rokkii has drawn barrier two in Sunday's race and will be ridden by Regan Bayliss.

He's Our Rokkii is rated a $16 chance in Underwood betting with Hartnell the $1.90 favourite and is at the same quote in Epsom Handicap betting.
