Blake Shinn, Josh Parr suspended from Rose

Saturday 23 September 2017, 6:30pm

Blake Shinn will miss the ride on English in the $10 million Everest unless he can successfully appeal a 10-meeting ban for careless riding in the Group One Golden Rose.

Shinn was outed for shifting in aboard Pariah at the 1000m-mark of Saturday's 1400m-race, causing interference to Chauffeur ridden by Brenton Avdulla with Shogun Sun pushed into the rail.

The jockey argued Avdulla had options and took the wrong one and said he would appeal.

He has commitments up until the Underwood Stakes meeting at Caulfield on Sunday week and as it stands, he will be out until October 20says he will appeal.

Josh Parr also had a bad day at the office with raging favourite Menari running third in the Golden Rose and the jockey copping a hefty suspension for careless riding early in the race.

Parr was outed for 11 meetings for shifting in 200 metres after the start and causing interference to Gold Standard.

He pleaded guilty and will begin the ban immediately which allows him to return on Friday October 13, the day before The Everest in which he will ride Deploy.
