Dylan Mouth set for Melbourne Cup

Saturday 9 September 2017, 7:14am

Trainer Marco Botti has confirmed Dylan Mouth is set for a trip to Australia for a tilt at the Melbourne Cup..

The six-year-old was last seen shouldering top weight to victory in the Old Newton Cup at Haydock in early July, and the Newmarket handler subsequently opted to give him a mid-season break.

"He is going to go to Australia, it just depends if he goes on the first flight out there or the second one. We are waiting until the weights are published next week then we will decide," Botti said.

"If he goes on the second flight he might run in a Listed race at Chester (Stand Cup) on September 16 or the Arc Trial at Newbury.

"We didn't want to run before the weights came out as we didn't want to compromise his chances.

"The horse has been in great form since winning the Old Newton Cup.

"He has just had a little bit of time to freshen up as he went to Dubai earlier in the year so it has been a long season.

"As he is an older horse he takes everything so well."
