Fillies emulate their mothers at Geelong

Friday 11 August 2017, 5:30pm

High profile filly Oscietra and the John McCardle-trained Hard Faith have played their parts in a rare occurrence at Geelong.

Oscietra created the most interest at Friday's Geelong meeting on the synthetic track, winning a 1000m maiden at her second career start.

The filly is the first foal of champion Black Caviar who was unbeaten in her 25 starts including 15 Group One victories.

A race earlier on Friday, the McCardle-trained three-year-old filly Hard Faith broke her maiden at her fifth start.

Black Caviar and Hard Faith's dam Absolute Faith were the running double the day they both won their first races at Flemington in April 2009.

Hard Faith is by All Too Hard, who is a half-brother to Black Caviar.
