Jack Martin appeals careless riding ban

Friday 28 July 2017, 1:19pm

Apprentice Jack Martin has appealed the severity of a careless riding ban from a winning ride at Sandown.

Martin was suspended for eight meetings on Wednesday after pleading guilty to shifting in at the 1100m mark of a 1600m race on White Devon, causing the eventual runner-up to be steadied.

Stewards suspended Martin for eight meetings - two city and six provincial - with the ban to begin after he rides at Caulfield on Saturday.

Martin's appeal in front of the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board will be heard on Monday.

The apprentice has three rides on Saturday including last-start Sandown winner Fully Maxed in the VOBIS Gold Ingot.
