Glyn Schofield to ride Le Romain

Thursday 20 July 2017, 9:50am

Glyn Schofield will ride triple Group One winner Le Romain when he returns in the Group Two Missile Stakes at Randwick.

Trainer Kris Lees has booked Schofield with Hugh Bowman unavailable because he is walking the Kokoda Track for charity with fellow jockeys Stephen Baster, Corey Brown and Kathy O'Hara in the first week of August.

The riders are raising money for the National Jockeys' Trust and the Mark Hughes Foundation which promotes brain cancer research.

Schofield has ridden Le Romain three times for two wins including the Group One Canterbury Stakes during the autumn carnival when the gelding beat Chautauqua.

Lees is in talks with slot holders hoping to get Le Romain into the $10 million Everest on October 14 for which Chautauqua is the reigning favourite.

Le Romain showed his readiness for his August 5 return with a dominant win in a barrier trial at Newcastle on Tuesday.
