Report on Eagle Farm track imminent

Sunday 16 July 2017, 11:07am

The future of Eagle Farm racecourse should be clearer this week with at least an interim report on the condition of the track expected to be ready.

Victorian racing administrator Dale Monteith has been conducting an independent review of the Eagle Farm track which was closed indefinitely in late May.

Queensland Racing Minister Grace Grace and Racing Queensland appointed former Victoria Racing Club chief executive Monteith to help with all necessary steps being taken to ensure the Eagle Farm track was rectified and made fit for racing.

The Brisbane winter carnival was thrown into disarray when Eagle Farm was closed after the Kingsford Smith Cup meeting and the next three Group One meetings were transferred to Doomben.

Monteith is expected to make an interim report this week which should open the way for further work on the track.
