Fradd passes 100 winners at Doomben

Wednesday 12 July 2017, 4:57pm

Robbie Fradd has become the third Queensland jockey to pass 100 winners for the season with All Pluck breaking through for an overdue win at Doomben.

Fradd reached the century when Impregnable won at Grafton on Sunday and he went past the mark when All Pluck ($1.95) won the Grantawish Plate (1100m).

It is rare for three Queensland based jockeys to pass 100 winners in a season but Fradd joined Jeff Lloyd and Jim Byrne to achieve the milestone.

Fradd has 95 winners in Queensland and 62 metropolitan victories to be third on both premierships.

"Seeing I missed seven weeks with a wrist injury the season has worked out well. It has been my best season since I moved here (four years ago)," the South African-born Fradd said.

He has been a regular rider for leading trainer Tony Gollan in recent months and All Pluck was Gollan's fourth winner for the week after a treble at Doomben last Saturday.

"We had a bit of a flat period but the team is getting back to its best now we are finally in our stables in the middle of Eagle Farm," Gollan said.

"The stable had eight winners at the Doomben trials on Tuesday so there are hopefully more racetrack wins to come."

Caloundra trainer Andrew Williamson cemented his new association with one of Queensland's biggest owners, Mick Crooks, when first starter Mishani Fernando ($2) won the Three-Year-Old Plate (1100m).

"Mick sent four horses a few months back and this is our first winner. Mishani Fernado won his trial by seven lengths so I was confident today," Williamson said.

Brad Stewart scored the first leg of a double on Mishani Fernando and then won on Neptune's Palace ($10).
