Toowoomba trainer Rex Lipp says Tinto's laid-back nature is what distinguishes her from most two-year-olds.

"She's got one of the best temperaments of any filly I've had anything to do with," he said.

"At the Gold Coast before her first start she walked around the enclosure with her head down until it was time to step onto the track and from then on it was down to business."

Lipp gave Tinto a searching preparation before she won the Sky Racing Plate at the Gold Coast on March 16 and has been pleased with the filly's subsequent progress ahead of her next start at Eagle Farm on Monday.

"I had her ready to peak for the Gold Coast and in the back of my mind I wanted to make sure she hasn't gone over the top but judging by her work she seems to be okay," he said.

"It's a little bit hard to gauge whether she's had enough because nothing bothers her and she's eaten up every night since she raced at the Coast."

Because the prize money Tinto earned at the Gold Coast was restricted to horses sold under the Magic Millions banner, Tinto needs to win Monday's Hidden Dragon @ Lyndhurst Handicap (1200m) to improve her chances of gaining starts in black type races during the winter carnival.

"She's virtually starting from scratch and to get into the better races later on like the Sires and JJ Atkins she needs to win money in these sort of races," he said.

"I expect her to race well again although there are a few first starters in the race which makes it a bit difficult to weigh up the strength of the opposition."

Tinto was ridden to victory at the Coast by apprentice Priscilla Schmidt who has retained the mount on Monday.

"Priscilla will be able to claim three kilos which will make a big difference to this filly with only 55 kilograms which gets her in under the minimum," Lipp said.

"She's a pretty sensible filly to ride in a race. You can put her anywhere because she's got an exceptionally good temperament."
