William Pike to ride in Singapore Derby

Tuesday 4 July 2017, 3:25pm

Champion West Australian jockey William Pike will get another chance at a feature race win in Singapore when he competes in the Singapore Derby.

Pike will ride the Laurie Laxon-trained Lim's Samurai in the Group One race over 2000 metres at Kranji on Sunday.

He was aboard Lim's Samurai when he finished eighth in the Group One Patron's Bowl last month.

On Saturday Pike brought up his 100th West Australian metropolitan winner for the season and is more than 50 wins ahead of his nearest rival Jarrod Noske.

He also leads this season's national premiership with 184 wins, nine ahead of Queensland's premier jockey Jeff Lloyd.
