Donna Philpot to be farewelled at Bendigo

Tuesday 4 July 2017, 12:04pm

Donna Philpot will be farewelled in a service at Bendigo Racecourse after losing her life in a trackwork accident.

A stalwart of the close-knit Bendigo racing community, Philpot suffered fatal injuries in the early morning incident at Bendigo last Tuesday.

The service to celebrate her life will be held at the track on Sunday afternoon.

Philpot was married to trainer and former jockey Gus Philpot and was the mother of two daughters, Montana and apprentice jockey Jessie.

Like her husband, Donna Philpot had also been a jockey in Queensland, counting the Cairns Amateur Cup as a highlight.

The Philpot family moved from Rockhampton to Bendigo in 2014.
