Saturday 10 June 2017, 4:38pm

For country trainers a city winner is always an event and doubly so for identical twins Emma and Lucy Longmire.

The pair train Wildflower at Goulburn who made her metropolitan debut at Randwick on Saturday a winning one in the Souths Juniors Handicap (2000m).

Emma Longmire was on hand to take in the moment. a first Saturday city winner at the first attempt for the pair since they teamed up in April.

"Lucy's gone to Thredbo with the kids. That's the beauty of a partnership," Longmire said.

"It's just such a thrill. I'm almost speechless.

"I fell off her (Wildflower) on Wednesday when she shied at some kangaroos but I was confident she would handle the distance and the wet track today."

Ridden by Jay Ford, Wildflower ($12) was in touch with the leaders throughout and took control in the straight.

She kept going to the line to finish 1-1/2 lengths in front of Loving Home ($31) with race leader Birds Of Tokyo ($8.50) third a half neck away.

"It's a great result and I'm so happy to do it for Emma and Lucy," Ford said.
